IGNÁTKO
(Berehovo, UA) - I am looking for my great-grandmother family. My great-grandmother was Elisabeth (Elsie) Ignátko, nee Gara (Garai, Garay) from Beregszász (Berehove). What I have learned, so far, you may read at www. Ellie (USA - NYC, NJ), e-mail (2006-02-20)
IHNAT (Malé Ozorovce) - I am interested in tracing our family geneology. My husband's grandfather came from Malé Ozorovce, Czechoslovakia to the U.S. in around 1900. His name in the U.S. became George Ehnat but we think it was maybe originally Ihnat. His birthdate was April 23, 1883. His father's name was Michael. George was the second of four children: Anne, George, Mary and John. John stayed in Czechoslovakia and we were told that he was a mayor of the town. Michael, his father, was a coachman for the Groff's castle. Audrey Ehnat, e-mail (2013-01-16)

ISKOWICH (Krásny Brod) - There are three families whose members came to the United States during the years from 1875 to 1910 (approximately). In trying to document some family history, I believe I have located the origins of the families as follows. They are Jewish and all related to each other. From what I know their were the Iskowich (or Iskowitz) family in Krásny Brod, the Lebowich family in Sukov, and the Eichler family in Cabiny. Outside of knowing the above along with some names, I have very little additional information as to these families in Slovakia. Any help would be greatly appreciated. IVANČO (Parchovany) - I have been researching John and Mary Evans. At this time I haven’t been able to conclusively determine the actual surname for John, possibly Evanoike, Evanoyka, and there are several other variations. But, these two surnames also settled in Colorado, as neighbours to other Austrian/Bohemian/Yugoslave/Czech. families. I have discovered it all depends which census you review… they changed their native country names every ten years!!! Mrs. Mary Evans it turns out was easier. Her full name appears to have been, Anna Marie Magdalene Macko aka Maczko (different places, different spellings, naturally). She was called Ann, Annie, and Mary during her life in Pueblo County, Colo., Elbert County, Colo., and finally, Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois. Immigration: I have a variety of years these two reported they arrived in the U.S. between 1888 and 1895. She reported she arrived between 1894-1900, but she was here for the 1900 census. Naturalization: I ordered from Colo. State Archives, and received the final papers, swearing into citizenship, John Evans 20 Sep 1904 in Pueblo Co., Colo. There were no “intent to file citizenship papers,” which make me believe those might have been filed at the port of entry. All I got was, “Naturalized, native of Austria, became a citizen, born "1901 age 30," date & port of arrival not recorded in the Pueblo County Court, witnessed by Mark Ballach & Albert Lepik both Pueblo, Colo. signed L.B. Gibson Judge and mark by John Evans.”  Again, he was recorded in the 1900 census. I also found that Mary and John purportedly came from two towns, (her) Drorianki, Czechoslovakia and (he) Parchoveni, Czechoslovakia. The closest I found were: Dvorianky, a village, is 1. nm south or Parchovany. And, Parchovany is a village and municipality of Trebišov Dis. in the Košice Region of SE Slovakia. IVANKO (Ruská Nová Ves) - My father Georgius Ivanko was born in Soosujfalu, Saros Hungary and my understanding is that the new name is: Ruska Nova Ves (Presov). He was born 5 Mar 1888, and the son of Michael Ivanko and his mother's maiden name was Anna Hrarovsky. My mother(?) Catharina Nyahay was also born in Soosujfalu on Feb 6, 1889. Both are deceased. They migrated to the US in the early 1900's and I'm wondering if there is any information that can tell me where the Ivanko's were buried, and if there are any living relatives in Slovakia. Unfortunately, I was never interested in the birth places or where they lived in the old country and I guess that was because I was young and had interest in other things.
